A Department of Connection

Brexit fixes none of the causes of Brexit. The decision to leave the European Union – and all the division that followed – was the result of decades of inequality and disconnection, and the lack of action, voice and power in communities across the UK.
That's why we believe that there's an opportunity in 2020 – to end an era of disconnection, and start an era of connection and community.
And it's why we believe, at this moment of national renewal, we should reallocate the budgets and energy invested in the Department for Leaving the European Union to create a new Department of Connection.
The Department will be led by communities, create new evidence on the power of connection and community, spur new local initiatives, and fund the best ideas to bring people, communities and the country together.
